有。而且，两次！
12岁时，加尔文在罗马天主教会里，被削发为僧侣（tonsured），然后被按立为罗马天主教会的牧师/教士（chaplain）；
离开罗马教会后，加尔文受到威廉·法瑞尔（William Farel）牧师的邀请，来到日内瓦城，由日内瓦的长老区会（Presbytery）按立为长老（Presbyter/Elder），并被任命为牧师（Minister of the Word of God，“圣言司铎”）。
